SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. -- Robert L. Gross, 59, of Clara Road, RD1, died today (Friday, April 27, 1984) in St. Francis Hospital, Olean, shortly after admission, following a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 1, 1924, in Jander Run, he was a son of Georger and Della (Brown) Gross. On Oct. 27, 1945, he married the former Beverly Maxson, who survives.

Mr. Gross had been a self employed carpenter, retiring in 1981. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army.

He was a former member of Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530.

Surviving besides his widow are a daughter, Mrs. Alan (Pam) Cornelius of Millport; a son, Barry Gross of Clara; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Richard (Cheryl) Bryant of Shinglehouse; two brothers, George Gross Jr. and James Gross, both of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. where funeral services will be held Sunday (April 29, 1984) at 2 p.m. The Rev. M.H. Vincent of Shinglehouse will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.

American Legion Post 530 will conduct military graveside services.
