Spanlsh-Amertcan Veter-an Dies Following A Short Illness - Following a short illness, Herbert E. Crum or Shinglehouse died: Thursday (Dec. 19, -1968) in the' Veteran's Administration Hospital at Batavia, N.Y. Mr. Crum was born in Bingham' 'Township, Oct. 22, 1878. He was a son of Frank and Anna Kile Crum. He married the former Josephine Eaton in 1901. Mrs. Crum preceded him in death in 1962. He was a Spanish-American War veteran. Surviving are four daughters, [Mrs. George (Mildred) Gavitt of Wellsville, Mrs. Winifred Gavitt of I Friendship, Mrs. Florence Lindsay of Shinglehouse, and Mrs. Sherman (Mary) Palmer of Gaines; a son, Gilbert Crum of Shinglehouse; a step-son: George Smith of Austin; 19 grandchildren; 38 greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 22, at the Howard funeral Home. David Kemp, lay man of Millport, officiated. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery at Shinglehouse. The Shinglehouse American. Legion Post 530 conducted a grave-side military service,
