Charles A. Herrick Dies in Olean
Charles A. Herrick died at the Mountain Clinic Wednesday, October 30, 1951 after a lengthy illness.
A native of Muskegon, Michigan, Mr. Herrick came to Pennsylvania while in his teens where he was associated with the lumber business for about ten years. He purchased the Oswayo Valley Mail in 1898 and edited the paper in Shinglehouse for thirty-eight years. He retired June 1, 1940.
Survivors include his two sons Collins Herrick of Coudersport and Joseph Herrick of Shinglehouse; one daughter, Mrs. Paul Freer of Roulette; three brothers, John P. Herrick of Olean, Robert L. Herrick of Claremont, California and Frank A. Herrick of Ontario, California; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Howard Funeral Home in Shinglehouse, Pa. Friday afternoon at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Harold Sherman officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
