Marie M. James “beloved mother and grandmother”

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA--- Marie M. James, 91, of Shinglehouse, passed away, Wednesday, November 21, 2012, in Wellsville Manor, Wellsville, NY, after a long illness.
Born November 5, 1921 in Wellsville, she was a daughter of Frank E. and Lucy A. Larrow Sherwood. On July 31, 1939 in Shinglehouse, she married Elno C. James, who passed away on May 31, 2002.
Mrs. James attended Allentown (NY) High School.
She attended the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Deer Trailers Club and the Holiday Rambler Trailer Club in Shinglehouse. She was a member of the Oswayo Valley Senior Center, Shinglehouse and was a member of the former Minnehaha Rebekah Lodge in Shinglehouse. She was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed camping.
Surviving are a son, Ricky E. (Ginger) James of Shinglehouse; two grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and one sister, Gertrude O. (John) Henchey of Westfield, Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. James was preceded in death by a daughter, Deloris E. Evingham, who passed away on June 2, 2012; four sisters, Edith B. Gardner, Thelma Walter, Betty Sherwood, and Ruth Cady; and three brothers, Lyle Sherwood, Frank Sherwood, and Richard Sherwood.
Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 with the Rev. Becky L. Edwards, pastor of the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
