Obituary

Edna M. Stonemetz, beloved mother, grandmother and sister HOUGHTON - Edna M. Stonemetz, 82, of Chamberlain Street, Houghton, formerly of Shinglehouse, Pa., died Monday (July 1, 2002) in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, after a brief illness. Born May 2,1920, in Tyler, Pa., she was a daughter of Earl T. and Mary L. Beck Dean. She was married to Gerald E. Stonemetz, who 'died June 19,1955. Mrs. Stonemetz attended Penfield, Pa., schools. She was a member of the Shinglehouse Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and the American Association of Retired Persons. Mrs.Stonemetz enjoyed crocheting, reading, traveling and animals. Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Washburn of Olean; two sons, Kenneth A. (Carol) Stonemetz of Houghton and, Dale (Frankie) Stonemetz of Shinglehouse; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Elva Beck of St. Marys, Pa., and Gloria V. Dean of Shinglehouse; and a niece. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Gerald Duane Stonemetz, who was killed in the Vietnam War. Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, Wednesday (July 3, 2002) from 9 to 10 a.m., at which time funeral and committal services Will be held. Pastor Lee Allen of the Shinglehouse Christian and Missionary Alliance Church will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, PO Box 146, Shinglehouse, PA
