Farm Worker Killed When Tractor Overturns

DeForest Wayne Lawton, 37, farm worker was found dead, pinned beneath a tractor, shortly after five o'clock Tuesday afternoon in Rob Hollow, between Myrtle and Horse Run in Ceres Township, McKean County.

Mr. Lawton, unmarried, boarded with his employer, John Perry, of Little Genesse, R. D., and when he failed to return to the farm for supper Mr. Perry went in search of him, finding the body Under the overturned tractor in a pasture near the edge of the woods.

Mr. Perry reported the victim had been working alone in the pasture picking up stone with a tractor drawn trailor.

Elmer Beatty, McKean County coroner, who set the time of death as shortly before 5:00p,m., issued a certificate of death.

Mr. Lawton was born at Bellrun, Pa., on January 27, 1920, a son of Ned and Elsie Rhodes Lawton. He is survived by his mother, a resident of Ceres; a sister, Mrs. Walter Mazurkiewicz, of Olean; two brothers, Clifton and Stanislaus Lawton, both of Cuba; Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The body was removed to the Howard Funeral Home in Shinglehouse, where funeral services will be held a two o'clock on Friday afternoon. Rev. Roy M. Black, pastor of the Shinglehouse Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Maple grove Cemetery in Shinglehouse.
