Newton O. Lawton Dies at Shinglehouse Home
Newton O. Lawton, who spent nearly all of his life at Shinglehouse, died at his home there Sunday (Jan. 7, 1962). He had been ill for a long time. Deceased was born at Eldred, Jan 13, 1884. He married Bessie Fitzgerald, who died six years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edward Cutler and Mrs. LaVerne Lowe, Shinglehouse; three sons, Donald Lawton, Little Genesee; Joseph Lawton, Cleveland, Ohio, and Vernon Lawton of Lockport, N.Y.;22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Chloe Lawton of Shinglehouse; a brother, William Lawton of Olean; several nieces and nephews.
friends may call at the Howard Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday). The Rev. Wesley Glass, pastor of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Shinglehouse, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
