Vera I. Lowe, beloved mother and grandmother

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.­ Vera Irene Lawton Lowe, 78, of Mill Street died Monday (Oct. 29,2001) in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a long illness.

Born April 11, 1923, in Shaytown, Potter County, she was a daughter of Newton O. and Bessie M. Lawton. On July 18, 1938, in Millport, she married LaVerne Allen Lowe Sr., who died Sept. 21,

1994.

Mrs. Lowe attended area country schools.

She lived most of her years in Potter County. She enjoyed playing several instruments, singing, gardening, fishing and making friends. As a young lady, she would play at dances with her

father and brothers at various locations.

Surviving are eight children, LaVerna E. Krisher of Bolivar, N.Y., Lois M. (Vernon) Prentice of Bolivar, Clara B. Lowe of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Rosalie Siller of Shinglehouse, LaVerne A.

Lowe Jr. of Bolivar, Harold A. Lowe of Shinglehouse, Frankie A. (Robert D. Sr.) Stonemetz of Shinglehouse and Ramona J. (James) Weiss of Tulsa, Okla.; 26 grandchildren; several great-

grandchildren; a great­great-granddaughter; a sister, Rocelia Cutler of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph Lawton, Vernon Lawton and Donald Lawton; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. only, and Thursday (Nov. 1, 2001) from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time funeral and committal

services will be held. The Rev. Randall W. Headley, pastor of the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.

In lieu of flowers. memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
