Martha J. Blauvelt

Millport, PA---Martha J. Blauvelt, 86, of Millport, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 22, 2009 in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA.

Born May 3, 1923 in Johnstown, PA, she was a daughter of Clyde and Augusta Temple Weimer. On June 15, 1941 in Portville, NY, she married J. Douglas Blauvelt, who died on November 20, 2003.

She was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, class of 1941. Mrs. Blauvelt and her husband were lifelong dairy farmers.

She attended the Chrystal United Methodist Church in Chrystal, PA and belonged to the Chrystal Ladies Missionary group. Mrs. Blauvelt, along with her husband, was very involved in the Potter County Fair Association where she formerly served as treasurer for many years.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. She was known for her delicious chocolate cakes and chocolate chip cookies. She loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Blauvelt was a selfless and loving caregiver.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy A. Blauvelt, at home, and Marsha L. Prince, of Millport; a son, Paul D. (Barb) Blauvelt of Millport; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Jackie) Weimer of Burgettstown, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Blauvelt was predeceased by a brother, Harry Weimer; and a sister Bertha Lippert.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA where funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Kemp, pastor of the Portville Baptist Church, Portville, NY, officiating. Committal services and burial will be held in the Sharon Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Coudersport Chapter, 1948 East Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701 or to the Christmas House, 1 Water Street, Coudersport, PA 16915.
