Florence M. "Flo" Ellis "beloved friend"

COUDERSPORT, PA-----Florence M. “Flo” Ellis, 96, of Coudersport, PA, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, with a dear friend, Carole Kennedy, at her side.
Born December 24, 1917 in Pawling, NY, she was a daughter of Alfred and Helen Stockfish Bjornsen. On September 6, 1944 in Buffalo, NY, she married James J. Ellis, who passed away on February 14, 1992.
Flo was a graduate of Pawling High School, Class of 1937. She was a millinery model at the former AM & A’s in Buffalo, and a sales associate at the Casual Corner, Main Place Mall, in Buffalo. After moving to Coudersport in 1983, Flo was employed at the former Family Affair Clothing Store and several other stores in Coudersport including the former Mr. Gee’s Men’s Clothing Store.
She was a member of the Park United Methodist Church in Coudersport. Flo volunteered for many years at the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital Gift Shop. She loved to walk and be in the outdoors. She loved her cats and her friends. She enjoyed going to McDonald’s in Coudersport to visit with her friends.
Surviving are many friends including dear friends Linda Knowlton of Coudersport, Carole Kennedy of Sanborn, NY, and Sandy Schoonover of Coudersport, all of who helped her unselfishly.
Flo was predeceased by her parents and husband.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Park United Methodist Church, 15 East Third Street, Coudersport, with the Rev. Scott Ogden, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Park United Methodist Church, Coudersport, PA.
