Larry E. Bump
'son, brother, teacher, and friend'

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa---Larry E. Bump, 70, of Shinglehouse, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Friday, October 1, 2021.
Born on Tuesday, March 20, 1951 in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of Kenneth and Dorothea Dunshie Bump.
Larry was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Class of 1969, in Shinglehouse. He was also a graduate of St. Bonaventure University, Class of 1973, with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
Larry taught at the Oswayo Valley Elementary School in Shinglehouse from 1973 until his retirement in 2008. During his career, he was honored as Teacher of the Year in 2000.
Larry served his community as a councilman for the Shinglehouse Borough for many years. He was a member of the former Oswayo Valley Lions Club in Shinglehouse. He enjoyed traveling, the beach, classic cars, his winters in Florida, and his friends. He loved to work in his yard and on his houses. He was a wonderful cook, some of his friends say he made the best apple pie they ever ate.
Surviving are a brother, Gregory K. (Yvonne) Bump of Annville; a niece, Babette (Jack) Rudick of Middletown; a grandniece, Kaitlyn Kellogg of Tuscon, AZ; his partner, Adam Chapman of N. Fort Myers, Florida; an aunt, Betty Dunshie of Shinglehouse; several cousins; and many friends.
Larry was predeceased by his parents.
Family and friends may call from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday and from 10am to 11am on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 11am with the Rev. Russell J. Horning, of Shinglehouse, officiating. Burial will be next to his parents in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Larry's name may be made to the Oswayo Valley Library, PO Box 188, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
Larry's family entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
