Alice B. Parker 'beloved mother and grandmother'
Alice B. Parker, 93, of Shinglehouse, died Saturday, October 1, 2011 with her loving family at her side at the Olean General Hospital, Olean, after a short illness.
Born August 31, 1918 in Olean, she was a daughter of Joseph and Lydia Grimes Stevens.
Mrs. Parker attended Olean schools. She was employed at the former Faulkner’s Fruit Stand in Ceres, the former Hi-Q Company in Olean, and the former Roxey Restaurant in Olean. For a short period of time, she owned and operated Alice’s Restaurant in Shinglehouse.
She loved all crafts, collecting dolls, and gardening.
Surviving are a son, John B. (Greeta) Parker of Jamestown; nine grandchildren: Betty A. (Cecil) Green, Carl F. Baker, and Robin R. (Dan Kellogg) Baker, all of Shinglehouse, Gladys S. Parker, John D. Parker, Michelle R. Parker, and Steven C. Parker, all of Jamestown, and Darlene Farro and Gordon Miller, both of Maryland; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by two daughters, Harriett Miller and Barbara Baker; two sons, Jesse Parker and Joseph Parker; and seven brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at which time funeral services will follow. The Rev. Roger N. Hain, pastor of Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
