Barbara A. Shelp “beloved wife and mother” MILLPORT, PA---Barbara A. “Barb” Shelp, 56, of Millport, passed away with her loving family at her side on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, after a long illness. Born November 15, 1956 in Buffalo, NY, she was a daughter of Allyn W. and Shirley A. Smith Goode. On February 14, 1976 at the Millport United Methodist Church, Millport, she married William J. “Bill” Shelp, who survives. Barb was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Class of 1974, in Shinglehouse. She had been employed at the former Westons Craft Shop in Westons Mills, NY, at the former Wheelie’s Restaurant in Shinglehouse, and then was employed as an IU9 aide for the Oswayo Valley School District. She later was employed at the former Aunt Dee’s in Millport and at the former Millport Collision in Millport. She was very active with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for many years. Barb was instrumental in the implementation and construction of the Change and Challenge Girl Scout Program of the Railroad Depot at the Potter County Fair, Millport. She enjoyed doing crafts. Barb loved to decorate her home for all the holidays. She loved her grandchildren and animals. Surviving besides her husband, are her mother of Millport; two sons, Scott J. (Kim) Shelp and Shawn W. (Christina Turner) Shelp, both of Shinglehouse; three grandchildren, Christa R. Turner, Shevelle Shelp, and Willow Turner; three brothers, Michael A. (Robin) Goode and William W. Goode, both of Shinglehouse, and Thomas A. Goode of Millport; a sister, Deborah S. (William) Clark of Westfield; and many nieces and nephews. Barb was predeceased by her father. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013 with the Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Burial will be in Chrystal Cemetery.
