Murray E. Kemp


Murray E. Kemp, 87, of RR1 Shinglehouse, died Wednesday (Jan. 29, 1997) at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. He was born Feb.25,1909,in Sharon Twp., the son of Ora and Alta Jones Kemp. In May 1932, he married Ethel Densmore, who died in 1982.

Mr. Kemp was a local farmer and had worked in the gas and oil fields of Potter County. He worked for the Pa, Game Commission as a foreman of the food and cover corporation, retiring in 1974 after 15 years of service, He at- tended Hebron Union Church, Hebron Center.

Surviving are a son, Neil D. Kemp of Pennsburg; two daughters, June K. Murray and Jane K. Rice, both of Shinglebouse; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lynn V. Kemp and Carroll B. Kemp, both of Shinglehouse.

He was preceded in death by a son, David M. Kemp, who died Jan. 8,1997; and a sister, Lila Higley, who died Oct 24,1996.

Funeral services were held Saturday (Feb. 1, 1997) at Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, where the Rev. Russell Horning ,pastor of Fist Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, officiated. Burial was in Chrystal Cemetery.
