Helen M. App, beloved mom and grandma SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. Helen M. App, 74 of Shinglehouse died Friday (June 20, 2008) at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a long illness. Born Nov. 24, 1933, in Millport, she was the daughter of Erwin P. Turner and Florence Kemp Walker. She was formerly married to Fred. E. App, who predeceased her. She attended Shinglehouse High School. Mrs. App was a cook for many years at Red's and Trudy's Restaraunt in Portville, N.Y. Helen was also an accomplished seamstress. Helen and her husband owned and operated the former App's Antiques, which was located in Shinglehouse. She was a member of the former Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department, where she was very active working bingo. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing puzzles and collecting antiques. Surviving are four daughters, Donna Roller (Tom) Franz of Eldred, Terri Lee App Clark of Andover, N.Y., Gerri App (Clyde) Newton of Shinglehouse, and Lori App (Don) Huff of Monroe, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and former husband, Mrs. App was predeceased by one grand-daughter , Kelly Barrett and two brothers, Charlie Turner and Gordon Turner. At Mrs. App's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral services. Burial will be in Sharon Center Cemetery. Flowers are greatfully declined.
