MAYNE E. KEMP.

Mayne E. Kemp, beloved wife of Fred W. Kemp of Shinglehouse, died at the St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, May 21 at 12 o'clock, midnight, following an operation.

Mrs. Kemp had been in poor health for the past two years and it was decided that an operation was necessary. It was performed at 10 o'clock, a.m., May 20 and was much more serious than at first supposed. She rallied from the operation and hopes of her recovery was sustained until 4 o'clock, p.m., May 21, when her condition changed for the worse and she grew rapidly worse until the end came ar midnight. The remains were brought to their home, Thursday, May 22 on train No. 2, accompanied by the bereaved husband, her father, W. W. Torrey, two sisters, Mrs. E.A. White and Lena Torrey and Mr. and Mrs. Bela Kemp.

Maybe was a loving wife and sister, a dutiful daughter and a great favorite among a large circle of friends by whom she will be greatly missed. She was a member of the East Sharon Ladies Aid.

She is survived by her heartbroken husband, her father, W. W. Torrey, two sisters, Mrs. E.A. White and Lena Torrey of Sharon Centre and Wilder Beckwith, a nephew who has made his home with them since three years of age.

Mayne E., the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Torrey was born at Sharon Centre, June 19, 1871 and died May 21, 1913. She spent her girlhood days in and around Sharon. She was united in marriage July 4, 1889, to Fred W. Kemp in Millport and resided in that vicinity until twelve years ago when they moved to this borough where they have lived since, Mr. Kemp being an employee of the N.Y. & P.R.R. Co.
The services were held at the house Sunday , May 25, at one o'clock. The Rev. W. M. Cage of Chandlers Valley officiating. Interment was made in the family plot at Sharon Centre. The floral tributes were large and beautiful showing the highest esteem in which she was held. The pall bearers were four brothers-in-law of the deceased, Clarence and Ora Kemp, Fred Dunshie, E.A. White, and two cousins, Edgar Torrey and Herbert Hollister.
Those in attendance at the funeral from away were Grant Rawson and Wife of Perry, N.Y., Herbert Hollister and Nina Birch of Nprth Ernst and Geo. Bailey and wife of Rixford.

DEATH IN SHINGLE HOUSE
Mrs. Fred Kemp, dies, aged Forty - Three
On Sunday occurred the funeral of Mrs. Fred Kemp, of Shingle House. Mr. Kemp is an engineer on the N.Y. & P. Railroad. Mrs. Kemp died very suddenly at the Hornell Sanitarium at 8 o'clock Wednesday night following an operation for relief of a tumor. -- She was 43 years of age and had lived in Shingle House for the past twelve years, being well liked and highly respected in the community. Her death came as a great shock to a large circle of friends. She is survived by her husband adopted son Wilder Beckwith, her father. W. Torrey, two sister, Lena Torrey and Mrs. Ernst White of Hone??
