Spanlsh-Amertcan Veter-an Dies Following A Short Illness - Following a short illness, Herbert E. Crum or Shinglehouse died: Thursday (Dec. 19, -1968) in the' Veteran's Administration Hospital at Batavia, N.Y. Mr. Crum was born in Bingham' 'Township, Oct. 22, 1878. He was a son of Frank and Anna Kile Crum. He married the former Josephine Eaton in 1901. Mrs. Crum preceded him in death in 1962. He was a Spanish-American War veteran. Surviving are four daughters, [Mrs. George (Mildred) Gavitt of Wellsville, Mrs. Winifred Gavitt of I Friendship, Mrs. Florence Lindsay of Shinglehouse, and Mrs. Sherman (Mary) Palmer of Gaines; a son, Gilbert Crum of Shinglehouse; a step-son: George Smith of Austin; 19 grandchildren; 38 greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 22, at the Howard funeral Home. David Kemp, lay man of Millport, officiated. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery at Shinglehouse. The Shinglehouse American.
