SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. -- Mary L. Dean, 95, formerly of Honeoye Haven Apartments, died Wednesday (Sept. 23, 1998) in the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit in Coudersport after a long illness.
Born Feb. 9, 1903, in Gardner Hill, she was a daughter of George and Addie Taylor Beck. In Maryland, she married Earl T. Dean, who died March 14, 1970.
During WWII she was employed at the former munitions plant in Eldred. She later worked at the Shinglehouse Elementary School as a cafeteria worker.
Mrs. Dean was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Shinglehouse. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Prayer Fellowship of the church.
Surviving are three daughters, Edna Stonemetz of Shinglehouse, Mary E. of St. Mary's and Gloria V. Dean of Shinglehouse; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dean was preceded by a daughter, Shirley L. Dean, in 1939; a grandson; six brothers; and three sisters.
Fiends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home in Shinglehouse. Funeral and committal services will be held Saturday (Sept. 26, 1998) at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Lee Allen, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Shinglehouse, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
