SHINGLEHOUSE --Artie C. Roberts, 89, of 551 North Lyle Ave., East Wenatchee, Wash., formerly of Millport, died Thursday (Aug. 6, 1998) in her home after an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 3, 1908, in Witmer, W, Va., a daughter of Frederick C. and Mary E. Helmick Calhoun. On June 25, 1927, in Oswayo, she married Robert G. Roberts, who died on Aug. 30, 1971,
Mrs. Roberts and her husband owned Millport Garage.
She was a former member of the Millport United Methodist Church.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in East Wenatchee, where she was also a member of the women's group. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, where she was a former district deputy of Potter County.
Surviving are one daughter, Gloria R. Anderson of East Wenatchee; four grandchildren, sic great-grandchildren; one great-great- granddaughter; one sister, Shirley Evingham of Shinglehouse; two brothers, Marvin H Calhoun of Coudersport and Warren H.. Calhoun OF Shinglehouse, and several nieces and nephews, including Max Hemphill of Sawyer, N.D., who had resided with Mrs. Roberts and her husband for many years.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Friends may call Thursday at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home from 9 to 11 a.m. at which time funeral and committal services will be held with the Rev. Darrel Harris of Oswayo officiating. Burial will be in the Rathbone Cemetery Coneville.
