James L. “Jazz” Jackson
“beloved husband, father & grandfather”

MILLPORT, PA---James L. “Jazz” Jackson, 72, of Millport, formerly of Olean and Portville, NY, died Friday, October 14, 2011 in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a lengthy illness.

Born January 21, 1939 in Chester, he was a son of John and Esther Jackson. On March 5, 1960 in Media, he married Kathryn L. Everett, who survives.

Mr. Jackson was a graduate of Nether Providence in Wallingford, PA. He worked in retail sales for most of his life for various companies, including S.J. McCullagh Coffees in Buffalo, NY, the former Grant City in Allegany, NY, and the former Westons Shoppers City in Westons Mills, NY.

He enjoyed hunting and camping, and was an avid fisherman.

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Nancy J. Harris of Eldred; a son, Todd M. (Rachel) Jackson of Clarksville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Walter of Bear, Delaware; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jackson was predeceased by his parents.

Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 10 a.m. to noon at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, will officiate. Burial will be in Rathbone Cemetery, Coneville.
