Roy Kemp

Roy Kemp, 83 of Gowanda, N.Y., formerly of Shinglehouse died Sunday (Aug 7, 1983) at Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Gowanda, following a lengthy illness.

Born May 24, 1900, at Eleven Mile Road, Shinglehouse RD, he was a son of Edwin and Mary Walker Kemp. On July 17, 1920, be was married to the former Adah Merrick, who survives.


Mr. Kemp had been employed as a construction worker. retiring in 1965.

Surviving, besides his wife, are six daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Ruth) Persing of Ceres, N.Y., Mrs. Clinton (Norma) O'Shaughnessy and Mrs. Winfield (Marjorie) Babcock, both of Syracuse, N.Y., Mrs. Daniel (Marie) Austin of Shinglehouse,
Mrs. Duane (Diane) Stocking of East Pembrooke, N.Y., and Mrs, Theodore (Janice) Mac-
Duffie of Pavilion, N.Y.; a son, Edwin Kemp of Shinglehouse; 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Cecil) Wixson and Mrs. Gerald (Lottie) Fisk, both of Wellsville, N.Y., and Mrs. Lena Mallery of Sarasota, FJa.; two brothers, Revie Kemp of Shinglehouse and Rolland Kemp of Hernando, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

Friends were received at the Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, where funeral
and committal services will be held today (Aug. 10, 1983). The Rev. Alan Jones, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Ceres, will officiate. Burial will
be in Chrystal Cemetery.
