Charles H. Conklin
Charles H. Conklin of Lyndon, died Thursday, August 20, 1981 in Cuba Memorial Hospital, following a long illness.
Born June 15, 1919 in Nile, he was a son of Elton D. and Dorothea Grastorf Conklin. He was married to the former Ellamae Shelley, who survives.
Mr. Conklin was an Army veteran of World War II and was a survivor of the Bataan Death March.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 2721 of Cuba; member of the American Legion Post 655 of Cuba; DAV Post 119 of Olean; and the Franklinville Conservation Club.
Surviving besides his widow, are a son, Charles E. Conklin of Cuba; two daughters, Mrs. Rose Lockwood of Cuba and Mrs. Dennis (Cathy) Dorsey of Angelica; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Thomas (Elaine) Kelley of Olean and Mrs. Debra Liddle of Warsaw; six grandchildren, his father of Friendship; three sisters, Mrs. Merle (Evelyn) Jones of Bolivar, Mrs. Willis (Virginia) Jordan and Mrs. Melva Schoonover, both of Olean; two brothers, Claude Conklin of Hinsdale and Guy Conklin of Bradford, Pa., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral and committal services were held Sunday, August 23, 1981 at 2 p.m. at the Nicholson Funeral Home, 24 Genesee Parkway, Cuba.
The Rev. Steven Steele, pastor of North Park Wesleyan Church, Cuba, officiated. Burial was in Clara Cemetery, Clara, Pa.
