Edna M. Stonemetz, beloved mother, grandmother and sister HOUGHTON - Edna M. Stonemetz, 82, of Chamberlain Street, Houghton, formerly of Shinglehouse, Pa., died Monday (July 1, 2002) in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, after a brief illness. Born May 2,1920, in Tyler, Pa., she was a daughter of Earl T. and Mary L. Beck Dean. She was married to Gerald E. Stonemetz, who 'died June 19,1955. Mrs. Stonemetz attended Penfield, Pa., schools. She was a member of the Shinglehouse Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and the American Association of Retired Persons. Mrs.Stonemetz enjoyed crocheting, reading, traveling and animals. Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Washburn of Olean; two sons, Kenneth A. (Carol) Stonemetz of Houghton and, Dale (Frankie) Stonemetz of Shinglehouse; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Elva Beck of St. Marys, Pa., and Gloria V. Dean of Shinglehouse; and a niece. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Gerald Duane Stonemetz, who was killed in the Vietnam War. Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, Wednesday (July 3, 2002) from 9 to 10 a.m., at which time funeral and committal services Will be held. Pastor Lee Allen of the Shinglehouse Christian and Missionary Alliance Church will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
