Oswayo Valley Mail; Many of the old residents of Shinglehouse were surprised and sorrowed Tuesday morning to learn of the death of "Del" Perkins, who passed away at 6:30 o'clock that morning, following a ten day illness, altho he had been up and about his home every day.
Edgar Adelbert Perkins was born on the old Perkins homestead this side of what is now part of the farm owned by Rex Turner, on February 20, 1850, and where he received his schooling and grew to a man's estate.
In 1875 he came to Shinglehouse and on March 20, 1876 he was united in marriage to Miss Laurena White of Ceres and Friendship, N.Y. Since that time he had resided in Shinglehouse where he had conducted a small sawmill and a gristmill, and had ground out grist for farmers all over this section of Potter and McKean counties, many of them coming from 20 to 30 miles to get their grinding done in the old-fashioned stone mill by "Del" Perkins. The last grist he ground out was about two months ago.

He was a member of Sharon Lodge, 598; F. & A. M. He was on of the oldest business men of Shinglehouse, having been continuously in business here ever since 1876.
He is survived by one son, Elmo Perkins and six grandchildren, Curtis, Olin, Helen, Edgar, Doris, and Lois, all of this boro. Also a great many friends. The funeral was held at the house at two o'clock Thursday afternoon. The burial was in Maple Grove cemetery, Shinglehouse.
