Clarence E. Kemp Jr.

Clarence E. Kemp, 60, of Lancaster, N.Y . died Sunday (Jan. 30,1983) in Cheektowaga, N.Y.

A former resident of Shinglehouse, Mr. Kemp had resided at Lancaster for the past 40 years.

Born Jan. 13, 1922., in Alma, N.Y., he was a son of Clarence E. and Kathryn Connors Kemp. He was married to the former Betty M. Stanger, who survives.

Mr. Kemp, bad served as a music teacher in the Lancaster Central School system for the past 40 years. He was active in the New York Brass Conference for Scholarships and, from 1972 to 1976, had served as New York State chairman of the National Band Masters' Assn. He was a member and lay speaker of the Randall Memorial Baptist Church at Williamsville, N.Y.

Surviving, besides his widow, are two sons, Daniel Kemp, Minneapolis, Minn., and Stephen Kemp, Wheaton, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ellen Heathershaw, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Gerry Lynn Kemp of Lancaster, N.Y.; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Letha Smith, New Brunswick, N.J.; a brother, Paul Kemp, Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held yesterday at 3:30 p.m. in the Randall Memorial Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held today at 1:00 p.m, in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Stutzman­Zurbrick Funeral Home, Lancaster.
