SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. --
Carl V. 'Pat' Turner, 85, of Honeoye Road died Friday (Feb. 9, 2001) at his home after a short illness.
Born Aug. 31, 1915, in Ceres, Pa., he was the son of Truman H. and Flora A. Terrette Turner Brumage.
Mr. Turner was a 1933 graduate of Shinglehouse High School. He worked in the natural gas industry and was employed by Bradley Producers, Empire Gas Co., Iroquios Gas Co., and National Fuel Gas Co. He retired on July 1, 1976, from National Fuel after more than 42 years of employment.
He was a life member of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department, receiving his 50 year award on Dec. 31, 1986. Mr. Turner also served with the department's fire police.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed woodworking and making wood crafts for his family.
Surviving are a sister, Ruth A. Oles of Shinglehouse; a niece, Cheryl A. (Raymond) Wheaton of Shinglehouse; a grand-niece, Chyrie A. Wheaton of Shinglehouse; a grand-nephew, Todd D. (Beth) Wheaton of Eldred; several cousins, including Dale L. Terrette, who had previously lived with Mr. Turner; and a great-grandnephew.
He was preceded by his parents.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse. Funeral and committal services will be held Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. M.H. Vincent of Shinglehouse will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
Members of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department will meet Sunday at 8 p.m. to pay their respects.
